dan and i just saw the movie milk at the kendall square cinema it was great. you should see it too. i didn't know who harvey milk was before the movie came out. i also didn't realize exactly how horrible our country has been to gay people. like, back then, they had prop 6 on the ballot to try to get all homosexual teachers fired. (!)
this movie certainly came out at an appropriate time. and a lot of the anti-gay proposition backed by religious groups sounded familiar.
i still wonder, what exactly is marriage doing in our government anyway? marriage has always seemed like a religious thing. to me, it makes sense to get religion out of our government. give everyone (including me who will probably marry a dude) civil unions with hospital, adoption, etc rights. and then if some bigoted churches still wish to have "traditional family values" well fuck 'em gay people can get married at a different, nicer church |

http://www.change.gov/agenda/civilrights/
does he seriously have nothing about gay rights here?
any of: 1. right to gay marriage 2. making (rights granted by civil unions) = (rights granted by marriage) 3. getting rid of marriage and just giving civil unions to all because marriage (or at least the arguments against gay marriage) seems to be a religious, church creepin' into my state kind of thing. "the bible says yes on prop 8!"
no?
seriously?
in the veep debate biden did say he supported 2. (palin too, lol.)
whether they want to leave it up to the states or not, they could at least have a stance on the issue. or say something like "we would oppose a constitutional amendment against gay marriage." |

prefrosh me:
"i love everybody i met in baker. but maybe i want a dorm with some hacker types too? i heard east campus was diverse enough that maybe i could find a good group there. and people said next house was good but far. yeahhh should check those out in the fall. MIT greek life looks fun."
it's true, man. my cpw host and her friends in baker were wicked nice and they showed me around all weekend. didn't make it over to the east side. i heard there were lots of azn nerds in next house and i was like yay just like my high school friends, i should perhaps live there. and then i swallowed a goldfish at that frat party and i thought that was sick. and also ate a delicious taco dinner at sigma kappa, i believe rachel shearer was there and i thought she was cool. |
